The Caregiver's Handbook: Nurturing Your Little

Comprehensive guidance for caregivers — how to create a safe, nurturing space for your little.

Written for consenting adults aged 18 and over. This is not medical advice. If something in here touches on your health, talk to a doctor about it rather than a guide on the internet.

Being a Caregiver

Being a caregiver in an ABDL dynamic is a deeply rewarding role that comes with real responsibility. Your little is placing significant trust in you.

Core Caregiver Responsibilities

  1. Physical Safety — Ensure all activities are safe; know first aid basics
  2. Emotional Safety — Create a judgment-free, nurturing space
  3. Consistent Boundaries — Be reliable and predictable within agreed-upon rules
  4. Communication — Regular check-ins, outside of scenes
  5. Self-Care — You can't pour from an empty cup

Creating a Safe Space

Your little needs to feel:

  • Unconditionally accepted in their regression
  • Safe to express needs and feelings
  • Confident that the safeword will always be honored
  • Protected and cared for

Common Caregiver Mistakes

  • Skipping aftercare — Always do aftercare, no exceptions
  • Ignoring safewords — A safeword ends the scene immediately, period
  • Pushing limits without negotiation — Explore new things through conversation, not surprise
  • Neglecting your own needs — Caregiver burnout is real
  • Taking on too much too fast — Build the dynamic gradually

Building Trust

Trust is built through:

  • Consistency — do what you say you'll do
  • Following through on aftercare
  • Respecting all limits, even small ones
  • Being present during scenes, not distracted
  • Regular relationship check-ins (not just scene check-ins)

Caregiver Self-Care

Taking care of yourself enables you to care for your little:

  • Set your own limits on session length and frequency
  • Debrief after intense sessions
  • Have support systems outside the dynamic
  • Recognize and address your own drop

*Caregiving is a privilege. Treat it with the seriousness and love it deserves.*
